ALERT LEVEL 2 - COVID-19
Kia ora whanau
Following the Prime Ministers announcement of moving to Alert Level 2 on Thursday 14th, Whangaroa College will be open for all students on Monday the 18th May. Therefore, as the school prepares the site to welcome back students there will be no distance learning this Friday the 15th May, instead the school will be closed and teachers will be involved in a teacher only day to prepare resources and classrooms for returning students.
We understand students will be excited to see each other when they return. However, they need to manage their physical distancing and avoid close contact with each other. Teachers will support students to manage their physical distancing throughout Alert Level 2.
Furthermore, we encourage students to continue exercising basic but essential hygiene measures such as the following:
Hand hygiene – that is, washing hands regularly with soap and water, or cleansing with hand sanitiser. The school has hand sanitiser available in all classrooms.
If students are sick they must stay at home, seek medical advice and get tested if necessary for COVID-19
Coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your elbow and then performing hand hygiene
Cleaning surfaces regularly. Our cleaning contractors have cleaned the school and cleaning supplies are available for each classroom.
Further information on managing COVID-19 can be found at Health & General Advice
We will continue to keep you informed as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health releases more information.
